Electroluminescence-EL is helpful for us to understand the charge-injection, charge-transmission and charge-storage in the insulating polymer. It explains the threshold value of electrical ageing and the dissipative mechanism, and at the same time, it provides advice for us to monitor the aging rate. Photoluminescence is a kind of luminescence caused by the substance absorbing a certain amount of luminous energy. It has been a long time since we started studying luminescence, and it has been ripe on the aspect of mineral luminescence. Nowadays, with the high molecular polymer being widely used, photoluminescence has a fast development on the aspect of insulating polymer.PET is widely used in the aspect of electric insulation. As polymer insulant, when it is exposed to stress for a long time, it may be broken down for many reasons and get to the end of life. The electrical ageing and breaking down of polymers involve in many facts, and they have a close relation with the structure of the substances. The study on electroluminescence and photoluminescence of the PET plays a very significant role in explaining these problems, especially on the combined measure of photoluminescence and electroluminescence. We study the electroluminescence and photoluminescence of PET film in this paper. According to the result The EL spectra have peaks in about 300~600nm and 680nm. The PL spectra have peaks in about 466nm and 657nm. The combined measure of EL and PL spectra have peaks in about 419nm,490nm,561nm,633nm and 680nm. Both the EL and the current increase along with the electric fields, and the phenomena is obvious after the field increased to 3.5Mv/cm.
