As information technology continues to develop, new network patterns emerging. For example, the existing P2P networks have greatly influenced the bearer network's behavioral characteristics. And, wireless self-organizing network needs special deployment; it is different from the existing networks. These emerging networks are collectively called Self-Organizing Network. It is a self-organized, self-management, self-maintenance network. Its nodes communicate with each other through mutual cooperation and multi-hop forwarding. Some results of the wired network is no longer applicable. Thus, finding new measurement method to study its behavior is becoming a hot new field of research.In this thesis, an Inter-position Measurement method for Self-Organizing Network is studied. Active Execution Environment is an important part of this method. It is based on the basic principles of active networks. Active Execution Environment can execute measurement script; undertake End-to-end network measurement, and collect the middle nodes information. The basic principle of this Environment is: end-to-end measurement process is represented in the form of Interposition Measurement Script, these scripts are embedded to the measurement packets; the node which receives packet will extract the scripts and executes them by Interpreter Agency. Finally, according to the results of the execution, the node will take an action, such as setting up connection or sending packages.First, the Self-Organizing Network, Active Network and OPENT simulation Environment is introduced in this thesis. Second, this thesis introduces the Inter-position Measurement method, and describes the Active Execution Environment's position in the Inter-position Measurement node. Third, the architecture and work flow of Active Execution Environment are introduced. Forth, this thesis discusses its realization in OPNET simulation environment. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of this Environment has been verified in OPNET environment.
