Along with the progress of civilization, science and technology development, human capacity for action are also constantly enhanced. With cars, ships, aircraft, rockets and other means of transport, The humanity expanded own sphere of action the unprecedented altitude. However, at the same time, because actually disease, age, accident and so on, part of disabled people and senior citizen have lost the free active ability. This part of crowds are society's weak ones, they have worried which the normal person cannot imagine, how gives them more cares and the help is an important question which the humanity must face. The intelligent obstacle-crossing & stair-climbing electric wheelchair as a new action auxiliary equipment is developed under the background of the country's advocate that shows concerning to the minority groups and create harmonious society. It is designed to help disabled person and senior citizen to travel on different roads, climb stairs and other obstacles. So, it can improve the disabled person and senior citizen's active ability a lot in practical value.This paper first introduced the intelligent obstacle-crossing & stair-climbing electric wheelchair research background, research status at home and abroad, as well as a wheelchair system construction. afterwards, this paper focus on intelligent obstacle-crossing & stair-climbing electric wheelchair's control & drive system, including: control core TMS320F2812; joystick and button detection system; brushless DC motor; Motor drive circuit; battery charge and discharge control circuit; motor control software design and testing.Finally, this paper made application prospect of intelligent obstacle-crossing & stair-climbing electric wheelchair, proposed the improvement direction, and carried on the preliminary market benefit analysis.
