This paper studies the active and passive stereoscopic display technology. Based on the analysis of both internal and external status quo of stereoscopic display technology, this paper thoroughly investigates the software architecture of stereoscopic display system. It designs compositive stereoscopic display system on MFC platform, and implements the stereoscopic display of 3D models on desktop and large-screen.Abandoning expensive hardware-based image separator, this paper develops an OpenGL-based interactive controlled active and passive stereoscopic display system, which builds an immersive stereo vision environment and implements the operation of models in virtual environment such as rotating,scaling,translating. Various subjective and objective factors which influence the effect of stereoscopic display are analyzed through experiment, and the effective solutions are provided. This paper provides a reference to stereoscopic display projects in other conditions.The OpenGL-based stereoscopic display system on MFC platform has some superiority that can not be achieved by other graphic solutions. It can not only implement me underlying control of virtual environment to gain excellent effect, but also provide friendly man-machine interface to convenience operation. Moreover, using platform-independent software package instead of expencive hardware device, this paper achieves equal stereo effect as using hardware-based image separator. The cost of system is well controlled, which has a practical reference function to business and teaching.
