The Study Of OPNET Simulation And Its Application

With increasingly complex of network structure and size and more diverse network applications, simply rely on the experience of network planning and design, the R & D network equipment and the development of network protocols, can not adapt the network development. Therefore a scientific means to reflect and predict the performance of networks is needed in urgently. Network simulation technology emerged as the times required.The OPNET network simulation tool provides a full solution for the settlement of simulation and optimization of communication networks and the network management.It has become in the top flight of software in the field of network simulation and analysis.Based on OPNET Modeler 10.0, this paper elaborates on the OPNET simulation methods by way of studying OPNET simulation modeling method combined with a typical example of network simulation, and at last it gives a simulation of the transmission network business of the company.This paper emphasize the treatise to OPNET on simulation of communication mechanisms, including the three-tier mechanism modeling, discrete event simulation mechanisms as well as the three communication mechanisms of OPNET: the packet-based communications, the link-based communications and the interface-based communication. Simple analysis of the general process of network simulation and OPNET simulation processes, through a typical experiment of the server expansion to detail. Finally, make a company's business transmission model by the OPNET, and get a group of simulation results under the premise of different time interval. According to the simulation results as the link utilization and end-to-end delay, analysis of how the packet generation rate impact on network performance.The research results of this paper are meaningful for the improvement of performance and reliability. The research is also significant for engineering because it can provide scientific data,shorten the period and reduce the risk of investment.
