With the official launch of China Mobile TD-SCDMA test operations of the community and commercial pilot, more and more people are concerned with mobile phone games. Consumer demands more colorful games on mobile phones. RPG game is one of the most popular types of games. The hardware and software resource for the development of mobile phone platform is very limited, which makes it difficult to develop a game with more beautiful images and more exciting contents. So most developers are focusing on the development of RPG Games Engines in J2ME Platform with limited resources.In this thesis, the development technology of RPG game engineis studied. The RPG game engine is divided into the bottom and high-level game engine. One underlying game engine is a function of the API package, which includes the major functions of the game rendering, audio output, and so on. The high-level game is based on the argument of the game logic of the engine. Its main purpose is to achieve the logic of the game.According to the research and analysis of the J2ME platform and the characteristics of the underlying game engines to support the status , RPG games constitute the elements of the status of mobile game engine which is based on the J2ME platform RPG game engine for cross-layer design. The game engine includs three parts, which are the underlying engine, high-level game engine and design tools.In the bottom of the engine design, the PNG image file format based classification engine and pre-compression modules is designed. In the high-level game engine, based on the analysis of the present situation and characteristics of the RPG games, we implement the RPG game engine in 6 modules: map module , the collision module, animation module, the role of the module, script modules and display and control module. Finally, we design a game engine tool according to the bottom of the engine and high-level engine design, which has greatly enhanced the speed of development of the game.
