With the development of mobile communication technologies and the improvement of wireless data traffic, cell phones function a lot besides calling. A brand new cell phone games' field attracts many software developers' eye sight. Game developers and game players are facing an exciting game world. Currently the main platforms for cell phone program designing are J2ME, Symbian, Brew and WindowsMobile, and etc.J2ME as a java version built for embedded system, becomes the main stream R&D platform for the cell phone communication device. This is the insider's view on cell phone games. Because of the physical character of the cell phone itself, many key cell phone engine problems remain to be solved.Picturing is one of the most important ways of showing the game. In order to provide a more real action in such a limited environment, a common PC way doesn't work in this case.Until recently most of the mobile device has constraints in stack buffer and packet storage. Games need a lot of data files such as pictures, characters, scenes and voices. How to effectively use the limited cell phone resources, how to manage the game resource itself in order to conveniently manage the program and improve the performance of the cell phone system is the crux of our design.Theoretically J2ME provides developers with a write once and run anywhere environment. However, during the period of developing, the same game can hardly run in a different cell phone device. The varieties of the cell phones require a game with many versions.Based on the cell phone game LOST which is developed by a famous company, through the picture dealing of the cell phone games, the management of the game resource and the research on porting, this thesis implements the LOST's engine and proposes solutions to the problems. This thesis introduces the designing and implementation of the LOST in detail. It comes from a practical project, so the solutions and conclusions here are very useful to the developing of the cell phone games and other application softwares based on J2ME.
