The prison, as the state's executing organ of criminal penalty, is principally in charge of the monitor and management of the convicts in order that they would not escape and therefore do harm to the society.Over the years,the traditional management approach of the prison,with insufficient police force, low efficiency, unpredictable prisoner tendency and weak prewarning mechanisim, has been proved hard to meet the new requirements as the number of confined prisoners increased steadily.Consequently, hidden dangers, such as insurrections and prisonbreaks, abound in the prison and in view to them, an idea of employing RFID and its related technology aiming to solve the management problem for the prison has come out.RFID, with the characteristics of BVR (Beyond Visual Range), multi-object recognition, quick recognition, strong adaptability to the environment, is an automatic recognition technology. With indoor location technology, RFID can monitor and manage the prisoners in real time confined in a way of automatic recognition without contact.This article, in view to the exsisting problems concerning the prisoner management and the actual conditions in the prison, sets forth the significance of the research and propose the method of prison monitoring and management system based on RFID technology. In system development, a module is set up by way of data flow and system layer analysis and therefore an overall structure for the prison management is created accordingly with the solution of middleware structure, the coordination of multi-monitor equipment, uniform control monitoring and management system and especially an intensive research and design on RFID middleware. In the system realization, the methods have been elaborated such as real time monitoring, RFID Middleware, data communication, database recall and operation controls. Besides, reference tags method is introduced to improve the location accuracy , and the method of data filtering and compressing in accordance with the data traits of RFID and monitoring conditions is presented, with a safety measure designed in which reader and tags can recognize and comunicate with each other in safe. Meanwhile, with according to the actual conditions of the prison, the concept of reader network structure is set forth. After further research of SLRRP based on this frame, the method of IP packet encapsulation.is designed.The system, with the functions of automatic recognition and indoor location technology, can share the burden of the warden and enhance the safety and realize automatic monitoring management of prisoner in real time. In addition, the solution of middleware provides an economical and effective mode for the multi-monitoring equipment system to upgrade and coordinate. After preliminary tests, the system works well and realizes the function, automatic recognize, real time location, original data getting and process and meets the requirements of the design.
