Application Of Poly (3, 4-ethylenedioxythiophene) In Organic Opto-electronic Devices

Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) is one of the most important conducting polymer.Not only can PEDOT: PSS film be easily made by coating or inkjet printing from water based PEDOT:PSS inks,but also it has notable properties-electrical conductivity and dramatic color shifts, resulting in widely usage in optical electronic devices.In our work,we have used PEDOT:PSS in optical electronic devices,and the work can be divided into three parts:1.Polymer solar cells are prepared,using PEDOT:PSS film as anode.Firstly,the conductivity is enhanced to 20.8S/cm by doping Glycerol.The optimal structure of polymer anode device,ITO/TiO₂/P3HT+PCBM/ TiO₂/G-PEDOT,is educed through a series of experiments.The data show that polymer material electrode can be successfully used in organic solar cell.The factors which affect the devices efficiency are also discussed in detail.2.Polymer light emitting diodes are fabricated by using PEDOT:PSS film as anode. However,the efficiency of ITO/MEH-PPV/ TiO₂/G-PEDOT devices is weak. MEH-PPV and P-PPV mixture is used in devices to enhance device's efficiency. Although compared to the devices with metal electrode,the device's efficiency is rather low,it shows the possibility that polymer material electrode can be used in PLED.In this thesis,we have discussed the possible factors which lead the devices to low efficiency,and have proposed some feasible way to increase the efficiency.3.Electrochromic and electroluminescent dual-functional devices are made,using PEDOT:PSS as electrochromic material and ITO,Al as electrode.Polymer material EO-PPEV is used as ionic storage film,for it has the property as PEO and does little harm to the device's efficiency.And P-PPV is selected as light emitting film.P-PPV's color is the same as EO-PPEV,light yellow,guaranteeing the high contrast and high efficiency.
