It's a important ways of applying the machine vision system to automatic areas to realize intelligence, efficiency and high precision of industrial equipment. However, without modularization the traditional PC based machine vision system is inconvenient in portability, installation, especially the communications to other industrial equipment. Thus, a kind of integrated component is desiderated to replace traditional PC based machine vision system.Based on a thorough understanding of machine vision system and embedded technology, the integrator is designed. TI's high-performance image processing DSP TMS320DM642 is chosen as control chip for processing platform of integrator. It's a integration of RTOS technology, optical imaging technology, network communication technology and image processing technology and designed with a modularization thought. The integrator has the function of image acquisition, image processing, image analysis and communication. The integrator's function is independent, and convenient to configure. It can make up the flaw of traditional PC based machine vision system to some extent. The embedded machine vision integrator has a framework of DSP + FPGA. It integrates acquisition, storage, manipulation, control and communication module, etc. It has complete image acquisition and processing functions. Image processing algorithms have been solidified in the integrator. With the support of real-time operating system kernel—DSP/BIOS, the integrator can complete is highly repetitive and intelligent detection tasks after configuration.The requirements and working principle of embedded machine vision system is analyzed. According to it, the core component of system - embedded machine vision integrator is designed. From the overall design, hardware design, software design and the functions test, the design consideration and design process of main module is expatiated. The integrator is consisted of three main modules: C module, processing module and transportation module. Acquisition module is used to obtain the data of image. Processing module is used to complete analysis and identify task. Transportation module is used to communicate with external devices and feedback results.Small size, rich interface and diverse function is the feature of integrator. It's compatible with commonly used protocol - Modbus TCP. Remote configuration and dynamic update is achieved. As the experience results indicate, integrator and other components of embedded machine vision systems can complete the product detection continuously and stably instead of human eyes in the industrial field. It's a feasible solution of machine vision detection.
