Hu Shi's Newspaper Commentary And Its Press Ideas (1927.5-1937.7)

During the period of ten-year-civil-war,Hu Shi has written 139 public opinion articles. In the publication Hu Shi was almost as a political commentator who had freedom and independence in the status, he expressesed his own views on the current political situation frequently. In his public opinion articles,there were some elaborations on domestic politics, economy, diplomacy, culture ,education,and so on,there were also some reflections and the analysis to the international situation.Hu Shi was engaged in the public opinion activity on publication in line with "the freedom of speech" and "the independent spirit" . He manifested some direct elaborationis to express his ideas,was also in his publication activity.Hu Shi advocated the freedom in the speech and publication, he elaborated the importance on speech freedom and its realistic situations,he described the request to realize freedom of speech. Hu Shi advocated the independent spirit, he advocated the independence on standpoint, the independence when managing the publication economy. Hu shi stressed that anyone who should had the responsible and cautious manner when he engaging in the publication commentary on current event activity.Hu Shi practised the freedom of speech and the independent spirit by himself. That obtained prominent manifestation in his publication practice. Although finally it sinked into the exhausted result unavoidably,but he did dared to carry the flag that wrote the freedom of speech and the independent spirit at that time, he,as a warrior,initiated the public opinion order again and again at that time, that is undeniable.The thought of the freedom of speech and the thought of the independent spirit are intrinsic unification, they were intellectuals' energetic essencein at that time, that take Hu Shi as representative.
