With developing of computer technology, more and more attention is being paid to the three-dimensional geological modeling (3DGM) which has been a hotspot of geological visualization technology in the geological area. Three-dimensional geological modeling has been widely used in mineral exploration, resource prediction and evaluation. Methods and application of three-dimensional geological modeling of Fenghunag Mountain in Tongling was researched in this paper supported by the project of "The stereo quantitative prediction of concealed ore body of copper deposit of Fenghuang Mountain in Tongling, Anhui province".After collecting and analyzing the geological datum accumulated over years such as datum of mineral exploration and production exploration, geological data digitization and data acquisition process of three-dimensional geological modeling were studied. At the same time, the data model and data structure of three-dimensional geological modeling were discussed, then three-dimensional models of various geological bodies of copper in Fenghunag Mountain were build and then output and used based on Datamine. The paper used the three-dimensional spatial morphological analysis of geological body to get quantitative analysis ore-controlling factors. Based on the three-dimensional geological models of deposits, quantitative expression and three-dimensional visualization of mineralization and ore-controlling factors were realized which laid a foundation for visualization of the stereo quantitative prediction of concealed ore body of copper deposit in Fenghuang Mountain. This paper contains 4 parts.(1) Focusing on the issue of data accessing for three-dimensional geological modeling, the author has dived into the research on the methods for digitizing geological datum, and then software was developed which can access three-dimensional modeling data from geological plan, the middle of the floor plan or geological cross-section.(2)The data model and data structure of three-dimensional geological modeling were discussed here. The source data for three-dimensional geological modeling was organized as hole-data, and three-dimensional geological body as wireframe model, block model (voxel model) and linear octree model etc. Much work has done to study the characteristic and the way of expressing these models. (3)Based on Datamine, the method and process of three-dimensional modeling and visualization were researched. There are three-dimensional visualization of individual project, three-dimensional geological body modeling and visualization, output and express of voxel model, and so on. The three-dimensional visualization models of various geological bodies such as deposits of rock, strata, faults, ore body etc, had built.(4)Application process of three-dimensional geological model oriented to the stereo quantitative prediction of concealed ore body of copper deposit of Fenghuang Mountain in Tongling was described as follows: on the basis of three-dimensional geological model, using technology of three-dimensional spatial morphological analysis of geological body and field modeling to realize the expression and visualization of three-dimensional mineralization and ore-controlling factors fields. All that have done can provide the needed information disposal and visualization application for the stereo quantitative prediction of concealed ore body.
