Model Driven Architecutre (MDA) is a software development method which is defined by Object Management Group(OMG) in 2002. It has the advantage of implementation of system integration effectively and improvement of the development efficiency, etc. In the past a few years, MDA technology has developed fast and has been applied in many industries. It would be of great significance to introduce MDA to the telecom field to direct the construction of value-added services (VAS) management system. This paper will first demonstrate the ability of UML which is an important aspect of MDA, of describing the service management workflow in the telecommunication VAS management system at different levels. Then it will take the workflow of new product applies, the most common and representational workflow, into the modeling experiment and the result will be the base for the code generation experiment. Model transformation is the key technology of MDA. The transformation between different layers of model and model to code are all carried out by the transformation engine. In this paper, model transformation technology in MDA based workflow generation technology has been studied, and a framework of model transformation technology which is specially designed for telecommunication VAS management system has been designed and implemented.
