Pulsed power technology is a new technology for civil and military appication with high practiblity. With the development and perfection of pulse forming, ompressing and superposition technology, the application field of pulsed power technology is more and more widely. Now, the research work of pulsed power technology mainly focuses on the improvement of the energy density of power supply, high power switches, higher repetitive frequency pulses with the steeper front and back edge and higher pulse amplitude.Conforming with the development of pulsed power technology, this disseration describes a high voltage pulse generator with the adjustable frequency and steep rise time based on the technology of IGBTs series, which includes two parts: adjustable high-voltage dc generator and steep risetime pulsed generator. In the part of hv pulse generator, the circuit topology is half-bridge convertor with IGBT in series, and its control mode is PWM. Considering the reliability of solid-state and series switch which is deeply affected by synchronous driving and voltage balance, the synchronous switch driving circuits are presented, and the optical fibers are applied to transfer driving signal for IGBTs.Finally, the simplified modulator model with the simulation software OrCAD\PSpice is established. The simulated results confirm with modulator's actual performance well. Experiment proves that the modulator could work reliably, and the output parameters are as fellow: the voltage output isĀ±5kV,the rise time of the pulse is less than 200ns, and the frequency of the pulse is adjustable from 1kHz to 10kHz.
