With the rapid development of the embedded technology, embedded system has been widely used in our daily lives. In the embedded systems, ARM processer is the most widely used processer; Linux is a kind of operating system which is often used in embedded system because of its open source and stability.A tool which can analyze the running status of the embedded operating system is very important when developing the embedded system. Baseing on the JTAG technology, a method of analyzing the running status of embedded Linux operating system which runs on ARM processer is commplished. The parallel port of host computer is linked to the JTAG interface of target computer using a circuit which performs the function of transform and buffer. The host computer operates the JTAG interface by writing the parallel port, and gets the data that is shifted out from target computer by reading the parallel port.The JTAG interface operateing module is packed in a dynamic link library, which is the chunnel of analyzing module when getting the data and operating the target computer. This module can stop the target computer, read and write the resisters, read and write the memory, set the breakpoint and watchpoint, resume the running of progame. By calling the JTAG interface operateing module, the function of analyzing the running status of the embedded Linux operating system which runs on the ARM processer is commplished in the analyzing module. The processes analyzment include the kernel function call sequence, the relation of processes, and the processees'descriptor. The memory analyzment include the using status of physical memory, the using staus of vitual memory, and the page table.
