China is a developing country with an abundance of people. With the rapid development of economy,the problem of resources and ecological environment is becoming more and more serious and becoming an obstacle of our modernization. With the development of the"3S"technology and the enhancement of the consciousness of eco-environment protecting, using"3S"technology on the eco-environment to dynamic monitoring on land use and land cover become necessary and urgent. So, how to make effective and scientific monitoring and evaluation to the region resources and ecological environment is turning into one of the subjects which need solving urgently. The dissertation is based on the project of the ecologic environmental dynamic monitoring of Sichuan Province by remote sensing technique which was finished by Institute of Remote Sensing & GIS, Chengdu University of Technology. In this paper, according to DaXian county Sichuan province as the study area and Landsat5 TM Images as the main information resource. Utilizing the software ERDAS IMAGE,ARCGIS and ARCVIEW to dynamic monitoring on land use and land cover change between 2000 and 2007 in DaXian, essential identify the land use status quo and variation conditions in DaXian county from 2000 to 2007.The main research productions are listed below:(1) Established DaXian county land use and land cover dynamic and status quo database from 2000 to 2007, the databases of 2007, and the corrected databases of 2000;(2) The results of remote sensing image interpretations were passed by field verification, and a few databases having some errors were corrected and updated;(3) The environmental dynamic information was analyzed and that is though some great achievements had been made in the project for Conversion of Cropland to Forest, but, our land is decreasing dramatically. Therefore, we should pay attention to protecting our land Sustainable Development between the economy and environment.From 2000 to 2007, DaXian county completed Conversion of Cropland to Forest 122.871 km2,lots of paddy fields and dry land translate into forest land and building land. During the 7 years, DaXian county Conversion of Cropland to Forest has obvious effect and forestland area from 26.6% to 30%. In this five first-grade land-use types(cultivated land,forest land,grassland,waters,building land), nothing but cultivated land area has decreased about 125.62 km2,grassland area has no change(may be affected by the impact of remote sensing images). In the land-use types whose area increase, the Forest land lead first, had net increase of 122.87 km2, the area of building land increased 2.28 km2 and the waters increased 0.47 km2. During the 7 years, the cultivated land area decreased quickly, therefore, how to achieve sustainable economic growth and protection of cultivated land that a very arduous task.
