Currently, the wear of the new high-speed train and the heavy load train is complicated and it is urgent to study the wear regularity. To ensure the accuracy of the wear measurement data, it is necessary to test the reliability of the related instruments. Meanwhile, it is onerous for the secondary processing of the wear measurement data. Therefore,the topic about automation above-mentioned has been studied in this paper:1. The working principle and the structure feature of the portable five-linkage instrument which is designed for measuring train wheel profile manually have been analyzed. The measurement processes and the problem to generate graphics from measuring results are studied. And the research and development platform about PC, DSP and five-bar manipulator has been designed.2. The electrical wiring of the motion control system has been designed. By means of analyzing the mechanical characteristics of the manual operation, the adaptive motion control strategy for measuring different worn profiles with five-bar manipulator has been made.3. After analyzing the characteristic of the PWM module, the quadrature encoder pulse (QEP) circuit module and the serial communication interface (SCI) module of TMS320LF2407A DSP, the subprograms for each module and the software for motion control system have been written according to the control strategy.4. The human-machine interface for PC is designed, and the communication protocol is established. The methods of the serial communication with the MSCOMM control has been studied, and the human-machine interface software of serial communication has been written.5. Acording to the specific application, the implementation plan of the AutoCAD graphics automatic generating is proposed. The software using polyline for automatically drawing AutoCAD curve with one of the secondary development tools of AutoCAD named ObjectARX( AutoCAD Runtime Extesion) has been pogramed. The results of the joint debugging on the research and development platform show that five-linkage manipulator can achieve trajectory adaptive control, run back and forth on the tread automatically. And the number of the running times could be real-time displayed on PC. Besides, the test data can be uploaded from DSP as required for secondary processing. Thereby, conditions for the reliability testing have been satisfied, and the fundamental research for field measuring automatically has been completed.In addition, manipulated many times, the software for AutoCAD graphics automatic generation has been proven to be steady . And the predetermined target has been achieved.
