With the development of science and technology, the use of new technologies make the cost and size of chips is getting smaller and smaller, but more and more powerful and functional. MP4 player is also in the development of this trend,which can only play the music and specific format video files from the original, and now can play video files in various formats, features more powerful.At current ARM core-based embedded microprocessor chips for its high cost, low power consumption, rich connection interface and so on receiving more and more favor from the developer of handset,MP4,GPS and other kinds of portable equipment.In this paper,using embedded microprocessor ARM9 to design MP4.First this article has analyzed the MP4 hardware design plan, the prime task is carries on the chip the choice and the circuit design,the master control chip selects Samsung Corporation's ARM9 series embedded microprocessor chip S3C2410X;the external memory has chosen K9F4G08U0M, 512MB's NAND Flash; for MP4 broadcasts smoothly,the memory choose two piece of HY57V561620, total 64MB's SDRAM; Simultaneously also expanded the SD connection, may carry on the memory expansion.Software system based on Linux platform, using Qt as a GUI development library tools for MP4 interface designing.In MP3 decoding aspect,has carried on the optimization to the MP3 decoder's algorithm.The video frequency decoding uses the decoding storehouse, simultaneously draws support from SDL(simple directmedia layer) to design the video frequency player.
