With the rapid development of Internet technology, thin client/server system has been widely used, especially in the large and medium-sized enterprises that a centralized office and the ATM machine etc. Thin client/server system is a computer that displaying image on the client and calculating and storing data on the server. Having a low price in the software and hardware and the advantage of being easy to manage, the system attracts more and more enterprises. However, the existing solutions of thin client/server system, cannot effectively solve problems of stagnation, lack of color, mosaic phenomenon when video runs on the thin client, and brings about the security menace in when accessing. Therefore, it needs to be improved in the play video and infomation security. This paper focuses on the above two problems in order to propose the better solutions.Based on the thin client of i.mx53processor of Freescale, thin client/server system, accomplishes the information interaction by the freerdp, a remote desktop software,which is similar to the standard plug-in about Remote Desktop of Microsoft, It can access the server through the network connection, making the thin client control all the applications, documents and hardware resources on the server in the long distance.Based on the process of the realization of freerdp multimedia redirection in the embedded Linux system and the method in which hardware decoder decodes the video stream, this study propose a new solution that making use of hardware decoder to decode the video stream in the client, for the problems that appears in the thin client/server system when video plays, such as the lack of color, stagnation, mosaic and so on. The freerdp decodes video stream by calling decoder in the ffmpeg, so the vpu hardware decoder of i.mx53is added into the chain of ffmpeg’s decoder. In that way, the video stream can be decoded by the vpu hardware which called by the freerdp. And then the author confirms the effectiveness of the solution by experiments. At last, referring to the theory of PCA algorithm, this paper provides the solution that adding the thread of face recognition into the remote desktop software freerdp in order to effectively enhance the security of the system.
