| This paper introduces the concept of Middleware , especially the Communication Middleware (CMW), and gives description of a realization of the latter on a radar system application. With the development of military technology, multi-arm, multi-level system of co-operation model has been widely used in modern warfare. As a result C4ISR network-based communications technology has been widely used in a variety of command and control systems and weapons control system. These weapons command and control systems base on various hardwares and softwares, due to different purposes and environments. In order to ensure that the hardware and software are able to interconnect different systems, exchange, interoperability, based on a different hardware and operating system with a unified external communications interface middleware is very necessary. The concept of middleware is born along with Internet/Intranet development. Currently, the Internet/Intranet is built up with various kinds of hardware and OS, so as the base of huge distributed application server, the CMW must be up to the industry standard, independent to hardware or OS, and can support multi-programming languages. In practice, we developed the CMW under Tru64 UNIX(4.0F,5.1B). Windows (2000,XPK VxWorks(4. 2) etc. From the application point of view, the use of CMW, greatly simplifies the radar as long as other sub-systems distributed application development complexity and at the same time to ensure a stronger system robustness, and radar systems in the future to further integrate into the theater chain of command has laid a good foundation. |
