Abstract The development of technology in Information .~ Computing and Communication area make the implement of distributed multimedia technology possibly. It accelerates the development of distributed multimedia technique and makes it becoming more consummate. Multimedia Synchronization communication is the key technique in distributed multimedia system, and also is the basic requirement of distributed multimedia applications. Presently, there have two approaches to study the technology of multimedia synchronization communication in distributed circumstance, one is to study the dynamic synchronization semantic of multimedia, based on this to form a multimedia synchronization model to meet with the requirement of synchronous representation when displayed in different multimedia applications. The synchronization representations include intra梥tream synchronization and inter梥tream synchronization; First of all, the dynamic synchronization semantics of multimedia objects in distributed multimedia systems are studied deeply in this paper. Sum up the uniform expression of general time intervals in duality time sequence of multimedia objects: Based on the analyze of time梥equence logic models, this paper proposed a multimedia dynamic synchronization model棗MSPN, with new semantic and syntax. It is demonstrated by the model analyses and example that the MSPN model can primly specify the dynamic synchronization semantic of multimedia and various synchronization requirements in distributed multimedia systems to provide a fine formal basis for synchronization controlling of multimedia synchronization communication, with an integrated formal definition. Another approach is to study the technology of synchronization transmission and controlling of multimedia synchronization communication. Multimedia synchronization communication has the dynamic synchronization characteristic, which is the 搒oft real梩ime? communication under the dynamic synchronization controlling related with network systems within some interval. After deeply studied the typical technique of multimedia synchronization communication, this ii ~?~ ~慠STER扴 THESIS paper proposes a new multimedia synchronization communication technique 揟ime梞ark synchronization channel technique?. Use Time梞ark technique to assure the intra梥tream synchronization and to avoid delay and losing of synchronization controlling information, based on the intra梥tream synchronization we use synchronization channel technique to assure the inter梥tream synchronization. All of it are fine precision and fault梩olerant; the communication cost is less; two synchronization transmission controlling modes of multimedia synchronization communication can be supported effectively. Finally, this paper proposes an implement scheme of multimedia synchronization communication in distributed circumstance by integrating the former production of the two aspects and the distributed multimedia system model. Make the Orchestrate layer became two agents level structure, the stream agent is to control intra梥tream synchronization, the synchronization management agent use to control inter梥tream synchronization; This structure can support the ?time梥tamp synchronization channel technique?effectively.
