This design is about Digital Light Processing.The DLP LogoDigital Light Processing (DLP) is a trademark owned by Texas Instruments, representing a technology used in projectors and video projectors. It was originally developed in 1987 by Dr. Larry Hornbeck of Texas Instruments.One application is DLP front projectors (small standalone projection units). DLP, along with LCD and LCoS are the current display technologies behind rear-projection television, having supplanted CRT projectors. These rear-projection technologies compete against LCD and Plasma flat panel displays in the HDTV market.DLP is also one of the leading technologies used in digital cinema projection.In March 2008, TI announced the initial production of the DPP1500 Chipset, which are micro projectors to be used in mobile devices. Availability for final products would show up in the market early 2009.DLP system is a nice combination of multiple advanced technologies, which includes micro-electrical-mechanical system, digital video technology, electrical engineering, semiconductor process, optical engine. The design start with basis concept of DLP function, as following described:Chapter1. Overview of Digital Lighting System, includes brief introduction of technology development, mechanical, electrical, optical function design. DLP's market value and globe competitorChapter2. Micro mirror Control Design. This is the main design body. It starts with the basic function diagram, splits individual module as goes on. These blocks include Front end control, Memory controller.Chapter3. DMD display processor; Mirror Reset Driver Design.Chapter4. LED light source control.Chapter5. Testing design module, which introduce a little of the essential parameters which reflect the quality of the device and the software (LABVIEW), hardware of testing.Data flow design, interface design, waveform, clock pulse rate were described of each.Additionally, it's the appendix for actual brief view for the on going circuit board. Because of the development of the mems manufacturing process, the circuit board is still pending to be tested. Note: As being part of the design group, some parts of this project that involve sensitive items of company's confidential intellectual property have been avoided. Here is the essential electrical design of the product.
