Higher detecting accuracy and faster detecting efficiency can be required in iron-tower structural quality examination with basic industries of the increase in demand for iron tower. In view of the current gap at iron-tower structural quality testing technique, this subject is researched for independent intellectual property rights of iron-tower structual testing equipment.In this paper, iron-tower structual testing equipment is asked for testing the size of punched holes in iron-tower structure which is up to 12 meters. So the core of testing equipment is punched holes locational identification system which consists of machine vision testing system, magnetic grating orientation system and image processing module. The paper can test position of punched holes and the outline of the structure by researching on machine vision system. First of all, the equipment utilizes CCD camera to get image data, and they can be saved in a computer. In the process of getting image data,we utilize magnetic grating ruler to position accurately the CCD camera for getting sequence image. After that,we do some image processing on the collecting image data. We make smooth image, mosaic image, binary, edge detection, identification of purched holes and their centre coordinates in the equipment. At last, we analyse and research on these methods in the application. We achieve micron level measurement accuracy eventually.
