Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) is a new stage in the development of modern distance education to the intelligent, which is an important area of research in educational technology. By means of artificial intelligence technology, ITS is allowing the computer to play the role of teachers in the implementation of individualized teaching to different needs, different characteristics of learners to impart knowledge, provide guidance on the teaching process, however, the existing ITS systems have its undeniable defects and shortcomings, which are urgent need to improve.On the other hand, as the result of the decision-making is different from the past when dealing with the needs of transaction processing, the efficiency of data analysis of the traditional database technology is lower. The traditional database technology was difficult to convert data into information and difficult to meet these new demands, which led to the emergence of the data warehouse technology. The data warehouse system, by using as a supplementary tool to Decision-making Support System (DSS), is the result of a long-term research and development of the database technology. Click-stream data warehouse could be said to be the most exciting new development of the database technology, which combining the strengths of the two popular technologies-Web and Data Warehouse technology.As we've seen, a new design idea in the ITS has been proved that is a Click-stream Data Warehouse based ITS design idea. By using the Click-stream Data Warehouse technology, the system could realize the the solution of tracing the learners' studying behavior and providing a strong data supporting in using the techniques of data mining, web mining to analyze the learners' personality and common rules. Furthermore, it proposed a decision-making learning scheme by the intelligent analysis method; also it provides helping for the students in individual self-studying, and formed a modern computer-based distance-learning channel.By utilizing the existing Learner Information Database ,Education Resource Information Database and Click stream data in the system ,it constructed a system evaluation standard- based data warehouse fact table and dimension table; Also, this solution improves the ITS structure. The quality of the data stored in the data warehouse is the lifeblood of the data warehouse project, and it relates to the quality of OLAP and Data Mining. ETL (Extraction, Transformation, Load)is a key technical to solve this problem. With this understanding, based on the data warehouse fact table and dimension table, it designed and implemented the ETL algorithm. |
