Soil is the one of the most fundamental and significant natural resources for human being. In Recent years, with the development of industry, soil pollution became more and more grave, and accordingly impacted living environment and society development. To the severer problem of soil pollution, traditional methods can hardly reflect soil pollution effectively. Thus, we developed a 3D visualization software using 3D visualization technology combined with the geostatistics methods and soil pollution assessment models in this paper. Based on C# and C++ in the Visual Studio 2008 platform, 3D visualization Toolkit (VTK)and Geostatistical Software Library(GSLIB) are imported to develop the software. It can characterizes completely and accurately the soil spatial distribution and pollution of concerned area. The study provides the scientific foundation for the soil pollution researches. Furthermore,it has both theoratical and practical worth for promoting sustainable development of society, environment, economy and resources. The thesis investigates some principles and algorithms of 3D visualization, and subsequently uses it for visualizing the soil spatial distribution and pollution, including samples plotting, soil body displaying, and selected horizontal and vertical surface protracting. Moreover, Kriging, a classic interpolation for soil spatial study, is select for the estimations. Five soil pollution assessment models were builded, i.e. single-factor, background, index of geo-accumulation, potential ecological risk index and enrichment factor model. Finally, the software developed is used to research the soil pollution assessment in Daxing Area, Hefei as a case study.
