With the development of the Internet, streaming media technology that can meet the requirement of"playing while downloading"has been growing rapidly. Recently, most streaming media software are based on Client/Server model, which has the server-side bottleneck that cannot meet the requirement of large scale broadcast. The basic idea of P2P network is to make full use of the free resource on the computers located in the internet, and provide services to users in the internet through distributed model. There is no centralized server in the P2P network, every node act as both server and client. The P2P-based streaming media system also refers to this idea to implement the distribution of streaming data. The aim is to setup a streaming media transmit system with low-cost and good scalability.Recently, the Local Network Area (LAN) is widely used in school, company and community. Users in LAN visit the outer resource by sharing the limited bandwidth. At the same time, students use the P2P frequently. If many users exchange data with outer users at the same time, the bandwidth will be exhausted. Compared with the limited network situation between LAN and internet, connection within a LAN has the advantage of fast speed, low packet loss. If make full use of the advantage of LAN, enhance the connection with peers within a LAN, the usage of network can be increase, and the bandwidth pressure can be reduced.In this paper, we gave an overview of the latest P2P technology and the technical aspects of streaming media framework on P2P networks, including multimedia encoding technology for network transmission, the QoS control technology of the steaming media on application layer, and the multimedia transfer protocol, and then this paper presents a new P2P real-time Streaming model: TVSSIn this paper, the following items are discussed:①Analyzed technologies in P2P net work and key technologies of streaming media.②Designed and implemented a P2P-based live streaming media system TVSS. This system is composed of system management module, streaming data distribution module, P2P overlay module and some other function modules. ③. Investigated the optimization mechanism in Local Network Area. Introduced a local peer discovery and management mechanism. Designed 2 sets of experiment to verify the optimization. The result shows that after the optimization, the system can keep good performance in limited bandwidth environment.
