With the rapid development of mobile communication technology, the repeater is playing an increasingly important role in the expansion of mobile network coverage and the optimization of network. In order to keep the repeater equipment working properly and ensure the signal coverage of mobile network, the effective monitoring and management of all kinds of repeaters are very necessary. This is a significant task for equipment manufacturers and network operators. As repeaters are always deployed in remote areas, and geographically dispersed, it is difficult to maintain repeaters on-site regularly. If a remote centralized monitoring platform for the repeater could be established, the network management staff would not need to run around, and could manage repeaters comfortably. It would be a promotion for repeater management capability.Combining with the present situation of the research on CDMA repeater monitoring technology, this paper analyzed the structure and functional requirements of a typical repeater monitoring system, and then designed a monitoring and management platform for the CDMA repeater using short message technology. This platform can provide centralized management for CDMA repeaters of different types and manufacturers. Relying on the Unified Monitoring and Management Specification for CDMA repeater, the platform based on B/S network structure communicates with the repeater using point-to-point short message service, and implements the business logic, such as polling, configuration and alarm.This paper designed the software architecture of the CDMA repeater monitoring and management platform, and divided it into short message communication layer, equipment network management interface layer and business application layer. The paper put great effort into the study of the Unified Monitoring and Management Specification for CDMA repeater and Short Message Peer-to-Peer Protocol, and analyzed the interaction of short messages, the codec process of the Unified Monitoring Specification, and the process of monitoring business. According to the hierarchy of the business logic, the paper expounded the implementation mechanism of short message transmission and service, the network management interface protocol, and each monitoring business application. Furthermore, the paper analyzed possible performance issues in the application of the platform, and proposed two optimization methods from the view of software design, including dynamic multi-threading service and window-based flow control at the sender.This platform has been put into trial operation in Guizhou Telecom, and running stably. It meets the requirements of the daily network management of network operators, and has wide applications in future.
