Rail transit is the most important component of the modern urban transport, its high speed, huge capacity and weatherproof features has enabled itself an inevitable choice of the public transport development in metropolis. The most important part in process of the urban transit development is safety, which means the same relationship between safety information management system of urban railway transit and other kinds of information system in transit system. The prominent issue, by investigating the related department, is the existence of a huge mass of heterogeneous data and the isolated data source, which led to great difficulty in data exchanging process, the latter is a necessary condition that caused the poor information access efficiency. The occurrence of such a situation is due to the lack of normalization design and uniform interface caused by the time variation in building the existing systems. The major purpose of this thesis is to design and implement a safety information management system of urban railway transit based on data exchange and sharing to provide reasonable solutions to these problems. In this thesis, a safety management system of urban railway transit with highly efficient data exchanging and information aggregation function was designed and implemented. The system is established on the basis of study of the state of art software technologies and the practical situation of the safety department of urban rail transit, which helped enormously in the summarization of the business requirement and design objective. The system, which is based on data exchange and sharing technology, aims at the heterogeneous data exchange between the database of the intra system and information sharing with other related systems; in technology, a data exchange engine was implemented with Java Message Service and XML document and in order to realize the interconnection between systems, RSS technology was used to implement the information aggregation, with the premise of the quality assurance of the data included. The system was architected by lightweight J2EE framework that enabled the persistence of data and decoupling of business logic, which increased the flexibility of business and optimized the configuration process of safety management. In addition to the function required, the design of the system has given full consideration to the compatibility with legacy system. As investigated, several related sub-system of Beijing urban rail safety management system were on the daily run and were not allowed to stop running to implement new configuration and maintenance. Under such a condition, the thesis has raised a solution to access the BAS legacy system, which has archived the purpose to unify the interfaces of functions. So far, the first stage of the core function has been delivered and the system is on the pilot run, which perform solidly and archives all the requirements and original intention of design.
