According to statistics, every year there are about 12 percent of electricity is consumed by lighting in China, and power consumption of the city street light lighting system is a quite major part. The city street light lighting system is an important component of the city's construction. Therefore, is essential to design of a high degree of automation and intelligent, reliable, efficient energy saving, convenient maintenance and beautify the city's appearance city street lighting system (in particular, Intelligent Monitoring System facilities)Along with the technical development with society's progress, the request on the automation and the intellectualized degree and the level of the city street light monitoring system is getting higher and higher, for this reason, this article studied and has designed one section novel practical city street light monitoring system, which takes the MSP430F149 single-chip as the microprocessor as well as based on a combination of GPRS(General Packet Radio Service) the wireless communication and PLCC (Power Line Carrier Communication) the line-wire communication. It is worth mentioning that the article make full use of these two means of communication's strengths and expertise, so the intelligent monitoring system of city street light is not only advanced and fashionable but also cost-effective.On the basis of searching and studying a large number of domestic and international research and trends related to information and relevant references in this article, have a deep research on current city street light monitoring system's practical application situation and the development trend, well-designed this kind of novel practical city street light intelligence monitoring system's basic construction, the hardware circuit, the peripheral circuit as well as system's main software source program and the flow chart.The hardware circuit design mainly includes the design of the central controller, centralized controller, street lights controller, as well as associated with the external circuit design and related modules of the selection and interface circuit design. Software program design include the choice and the determination of design environment, programming language, the method of programming, as well as the main program flow chart and source design used in the system. The system uses GPRS wireless communication and the PLCC line-wire communication as a combination means of communication, so realizes the system relevant portion reliable communication flexibly, conveniently, coordinated and perfectly, particular, GPRS communication subroutine and the man-machine interface subroutine is close with the monitoring master routine coordination, the utilization is very convenient.The article mainly carry on the simulation to the system carrier communication performance, the measurement circuit for the street light electricity consumed, the street light control circuit and so on under the MATLAB environment, and the simulation result indicated that the system design basically has achieved the anticipated target.The request of modern city street light monitoring system is getting higher and higher to automated and the intellectualized degree and the standard, and along with the continuous progress of science and technology, the relevant new theories, new technologies, new materials, new devices, new systems emerge one after another incessantly, therefore the development request of the city street light monitoring system is also getting higher and higher, limited to author's knowledge level, the inadequacies of the system to be further improved in future.
