Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) integrate Micro-Electron Mechanical System, sensor technology, embedded compute technology, modern network technology, wireless communication technology and so on.WSN can real time monitor,apperceive and gather a kind of information about environment or monitored object through integrated micro sensors.The information can be transmited by wireless communication and be sent to user terminal through Ad Hoc.As a result,WSN connect physical world,computer world and human society.In this thesis,we study a platform based on Zigbee protocol. With the careful design of the hardware and software,the platform can constitute power-aving,low-cost wireless sensor network.Firstly,wireless sensor network system is studied as a whole,such as basic concept ,architecture,topology structure about WSN.Sencondly,we focused on the research of Zigbee protocol.Thirdly,the software and the hardware design is given.The hardware platform we use is PIC18F4620 micro controller and CC2420 chip.A star network in accordance with Zigbee protocol is also built .Finally,a wireless tempreture gathering system is design based on the star network structure. So as to pave the way for further developping of applicable system using wireless sensor network.
