Along with the rapid development and innovation of mobile communication, the Radio Networks are up against the severe challenge and competition. Now there are more modes of radio network such as GSM, CDMA1X, WCDMA and TD-SCDMA are commercial launched, all of these quicken the competition. So the major operators try his best to optimize the network and improve the performance to guarantee the customer's satisfaction and get the maximum cost-effective. In this period, the simplex optimization strategies can't match the requirements of the operator and get the salience effect. How to improve and estimate the Radio Network performance and quality with the advance and systemic technology and method, is the major subject that the operators focus on.This thesis is rooted in the author's experience. Via the analysis of GSM Radio Network's Call Drop and Performance, the method of it is summarized. This subject reviewed the Radio Network's basic theory and development milestone, analyzed the Radio Network's status and the significance of the Network Optimization. The highlight is presented the Radio Network Optimization's goal, work flow and major instruments which are based on the operator's vision and practice. The cases of some Radio Network Optimization are included also.In this thesis, the analysis for the Call Drop principle is included also. The major is for the Call Drop in SDCCH channel and TCH channel. At the same time, the author summarized and analyses the highest causes of Call Drop for Um link fault, T3103 time out and System fault in detail. The work flow and policy and measure for the troubleshooting for Call Drop is presented also such as Coverage, handover, parameter configuration, Equipment hardware, interference, antenna, transmission, radicalization site and network upgrade.This thesis can guide the Engineers of the operator and supplier to do the troubleshooting for the Call Drop problem and develop his skill and improve his working efficiency.
