As a key device for optical & electronic media converter, Ethernet fiber transceiver plays a more and more important role in the network with the rapid development of information society network construction. And the network put forward more requirements on the fiber transceiver's transmission capability, including higher intelligence, such as supporting link status fault transfer,flow control,working mode auto-negotiation function and so on. About network management function, it is required that in-band network management and OAM maintain frame function can be offered, so network manager can easily monitor and manage the remote terminal fiber transceiver, and reduce the cost of the network maintenance. Meanwhile the network management system should have bandwidth control function so that the upstream and downstream flow of the port can be limited, and bandwidth control function can be realized in the customer end. On this background, this paper focus on the design of Ethernet the Optical & Electronic Media Converter Based on the IP113S with Network Management function.The main contents are as follows:1. Basing on the clearly understanding of IEEE802 Ethernet standard and the technical requirements of the Ethernet fiber transceiver with network management function, we have chosen the suitable types of the optical & electronic media converter chip, optical transceiver module.2. After studying the function of the optical & electronic media converter core chip and working principle and application features of the Ethernet fiber transceiver, the peripheral circuit of the optical & electronic media converter chip, fiber interface circuit and electronic interface circuit have been designed, and the circuit schematic diagram design has been completed.3. As that the circuit of Ethernet fiber transceiver is a type of high frequency circuit, electromagnetism interference is the most important factor that affect its performance. After analyzing electromagnetic compatibility of the high frequency electronic circuit, ways of restraining electromagnetism interference in high speed printed circuit board have been found, as well as the design of the printed circuit board of the Ethernet fiber transceiver has been accomplished.4. The serial management interface's read/write timing diagram and pin of the optical & electronic media converter chip have been studied. The management of fiber transceiver board through the cascaded network management board manage has been realized, and the communication interface between them has been designed.5. Lastly, RS-485 bus interface circuit, 485 bus half-duplex communication protocol and frame structure have been designed, and the cascading of the primary network Management board and secondary network Management board has been realized with a design of communication interface design.
