The substations of the power system have wide regional distribution, the remote monitor system plays an important role in the power system. In scattered and unattended field, they need to be collected data at interval, the monitor stuff can find out the situation of the field, and they can send some orders according to the circumstances. Along with the development of wireless communication technology, the traditional remote monitor system has high cost on realization and maintenance, and they don't meet all the various requirements. As the data transmission media of power monitor system, wireless communication has the board prospect.The paper takes the XingLin Bridge electric monitor system as the background, compares the different of the wireless communication technologies, gives the proposed wireless remote monitor system which is based on GPRS, and makes some discussion. Specific content as follows:(1) Introduced the characteristics of electric power system in China briefly, the paper expounds the development of power control technology, and introduces the four basic function of the power monitor system. After introducing and comparing the communication technology of monitoring system of power, the paper proposes the communication structure based on GPRS network, and analyzes the feasibility and advantage of it. Based on the Internet network - GPRS wireless communication solutions and the way of APN line net, analyzes the latter way's advantage.(2)In the framework of the monitor system, my main job is the design of software. This paper introduces the function and hardware configuration of the monitor center, the relay station and the monitor terminal. These are three parts in the software system, including the data layer, business layer and application layer. The software system has some functions, such as system management, View management (including information table, current curve, etc), parameter setting and record inquires, etc. The paper uses the ado.net database connection technology to process data, and introduces the detail process of the analysis of the data packed based on CDT protocol. (3) According to the actual situation, lists several possible situations in the monitor system. At last, it gives a detailed explanation of the cable fault alarm and the current limit alarm mechanism. Finally the paper discusses the fault prediction technique. It introduces the fault prediction technique based on ARMA model, and does a simulation analysis of monitor data.
