With the rapid development of semiconductor technology, the integration of the microcontrollers are more and more high, the calculation speed is more and more rapid and the price and the power are more and more low.The newly developed 32 bit ARM microcontrollers can work at a high frequency as several hundred MHz,thus solve the real time problem,which constantly troubles the engineers.The networked control methodology and distributed control methodology are gaining popular in the modern industrial control field with the rapid progress of computer science,communication and control technology. Fieldbus is both an open communication network and a completed distributed system.It has been widely used in various industrial fields. CAN bus is a kind of fieldbus.It is mainly used in various measuring and control equipments ,generally regarded as one of the most promising fieldbus.In this paper based on AT91RM9200, a set oceanic observation system of meteorologic elements is presented with CAN interface. It can connect many sensor nodes with CAN interface and it features several communication abilities,including Ethernet,USB,RS-232,RS-422 and RS-485.And plus its high reliability,it can be used in the harsh industrial environment.The sensor nodes with CAN interface is consist of sensors,microcontrollers with can controller and CAN transceiver module.It can collect one or several items of meteorologic elements.It can also freely exchange information with CAN bus.Firstly, the paper introduces the whole design of the oceanic observation system of meteorologic elements.Secondly the paper introduces the design of the sensor nodes with CAN interface.Thirdly the paper presents the hardware of developing platform in detail and on the base of hardware platform, tells of the process of developing Linux and work needed to do porting Linux to a specail platform,including Porting U-BOOT,compiling and trimming Linux kernel,making filesystem,design of Linux drivers and application procedures in detail.
