China produces 36 per cent of the coke output of the whole world. coke, which lies the foundation of metallurgical industry, plays a key role in blast furnace iron making and prompting its performance charateristics is being urged by more and more iron and steel makers. Therefore, it is critical to take controlling measures to ensure high-quality coke to be produced.For the sake of satisfying the demand on qualified coke for BF iron making, supply of blending coal conforming to certain specifications shall be guaranteed. This discourse makes research and gives elucidation on a coke-quality predicting model established with regression linear by using contents of ash, sulphur, volatile matters and coking index of the blending coal as its parameters. Through controlling those parameters and the adjusting of the final proportion of each type of coal, the model provides the basis for selecting the appropriate coals for making coke.Furthermore, taking a new automatic controlling system for coal proportioning of a steel complex as an example, this paper anatomizes the selection, features and principles of its PLC system, frequency converter for the motor of disk feeder, PID controller, as well as the programming method and procedure for the system with the programming software Unity Pro and the configuration software Vijeo Citect.
