With the increasingly fierce market competition, the product innovation and outline were paid more attention to.In automobile industry,outline design is it's life and creative design is it's soul indeed.By far,no systematic method can direct designers to carry out creative design orderly.The rise of the evolution computation provides us a new approach for conceptual creative design;therefore,it has become one of the most important techniques for computational and creative design.This paper mainly studies the evolution method for feature design of automobile form,to combine the evolution design and automobile form design, creats new form through the evolution to provide help for the desinger in the concept design phase.The main work is as follows:1. Firstly, the automobile form feature and automobile form feature line are studied, and automobile form feature line is proved to be the best way to describe the automobile form feature, the form feature line is expressed to gene by the Bezier curve equation; And then, draw the evolution design method into the automobile form design, based on the automobile form gene which extracted from the form feature line, utilize the method of biological evolution to generate the new form feature.2. The automobile form is optimized based on the form gene of a fifth generational automobile. Two kinds of optimization problems including single-objective optimization problem and multi-objective problem are considered. In single-objective optimization problems, aesthetics and aero dynamics are treated as the objective functions, separately. Design variables are selected from those which affect the automobile form significantly. Some constraints are given from empirical study. Micro Genetic Algorithm is employed as the optimization operator in which feedback technique is added in order to improve the computation efficiency. In multi-objective problem, aesthetics and aero dynamics are treated as the objective functions, simultaneously. Design variables and constraints are the same as those in single-objective optimization problems. Then, Multi-objective Micro Genetic Algorithm is used as the optimization operator. In order to keep the variety of population,a restart strategy is adopted. This paper draws the biological inheritance and evolution into the automobile form design, based on the concept of form feature and automobile form feature line, accomplishes the evolution of automobile form gene, and does some interrelated optimize works. At last, taking some cars as the example to simulate, primitive experimental results are presented to show the potentials of the proposed method.
