Video-based moving object detecting and tracking system syncretizes advanced technologies in many fields such as image processing, pattern recognition, artificial intelligence, automatic control and computer science. It has been applied in many fields such as military vision guidance, security monitoring, traffic control and medical diagnosis.Liquid substances hold an important position in the production and livelihood of the people, and liquid level measurement spreads to kinds of areas, in the actual product life, real-time liquid level accurate measurement is critical.Traditional liquid level detection technology and ways reached more than twenty species, contained pressure, floating body, capacitance, ultrasonic, radio frequency liquid sensor and so on, they usually have certain requirements on the environment, and can not work in deplorable conditions. Colligate the development of modern science and technology, to design a liquid level detection system based on video image processing technology is imperative, it can overcome some shortages such as intensity manual work and low reliability, enhance detect speed, accuracy and reliability.This paper designed a non-contact video-based liquid level detection and tracking system, introduced hardware components and software design, detailed the algorithms. The main job is as follows:(1) For the liquid level detection, through filter to remove some noise of the initial image, after histogram equalization, an adaptive background extracted method is proposed and the real-time background updating is also completed to decrease the dependency on the changed caused by the light or the environment. For the"holes"generated by the moving object in the subtraction image, the paper use morphological filter to deal with the results of the object segmentation, which eliminates background noise and the impact of disturbance.(2) For the moving liquid level tracking, it is based on moving liquid level detection. To improve the measurement accuracy, this paper proposes a estimate revise method based on the Kalman Filtering. Through Kalman Filtering method, we could predict the next position of the liquid level and estimate the possible location of the next moment, then we could revise the detected position in small area. This method narrows the search scope, improve the efficiency of the algorithm. Simulation and programming on kinds of algorithms are proposed in this article, Experiments indicate that the system is of high speed, accuracy, reliability and adaptability, meet the demand of real-time property, and are simply to be realized through hardware. In this paper, the detection and tracking algorithm has succeeded in Level Detection System based on ARM embedded platform.
