As frequently occurring diseases of gastrointestinal function, disorders of gastrointestinal motility have get more and more attention widely for their incidence rates increased progressively. Gastrointestinal motility is an important physiological function of alimentary system. The research of gastrointestinal motility depends on the monitoring and analysis of gastrointestinal motility parameters under the really physiological condition. Water-perfused catheters are the preferred sensors for gastrointestinal pressure measurements. This method can dynamically monitor gastrointestinal motility parameters under the normal physiological condition. It is a safe, convenient, scathe less and efficient detection technique.As a powerful virtual instrument's software development platform, LabVIEW is regarded as standard software for data acquiring and instrument control. It is also viewed as standard software development environment in test and measurement area. Designing application software with the LabVIEW language could fully make use of not only the powerful ability of computer in data processing and transferring; but also the numerous extending function and software toolkit provided by LabVIEW, so that it could contrive efficient and applied software in a short time.This paper tries to solve the problems of the non-invasive acquisition of gastrointestinal motility physiological parameters, and processing and analyzing of the pressure signal. The main content and contributions of this paper are summarized as follows:1.Design the hardware of gastrointestinal Motility Detection System based on USB bus. Develop special USB firmware program so the instrument would perform as a USB device, which is in accordance with USBTMC specification. The USB device will be universal and facile to manipulate after the standardized use of USBTMC specification.2.NI-VISA software is applied to complete USB device driver development, as well as PC and USB communications test. Then, the gastrointestinal motility detection instrument, as a USBTMC compliant device, would be fully supported by visual instrument software.3.Developing application software with LabVIEW, it is completed of data acquisition, previous data acquisition, wave analysis, gastrointestinal physiological parameters calculation and database management, which will provide a user-friendly platform for the doctors.4.The analysis of typical experimentation data validates the functions of the system, as well as its security and dependability.
