Along with the development of IC design techniques,SoC has been widely used in various of fields due to the advantages of low cost,low power dissipation and high integration density.How to work out an IC system which has high performance in a limited period has become a critical question for IC design engineers. The design methods based on IP core provide convenient way for the designers.By this means,designers don't necessarily start from the bottom,just using the mature modules to build up their own system becomes possible.However,analysis for the SoC still has high requirement for the hardware and time since the SoC system always has tens of millions of transistors.It's infeasible to analyze with actual circuits.Macromodel has complete or similar external characteristics of the outside ports and simple internal structures.All these features contribute to the short analysis time and hardware requirement if IP modules are described by macromodel in the design of SoC system.This paper starts from macromodel's system architecture and building-up method.Based on the detailed analysis of current macromodel design technologies,this paper presents a macromodel establishing method which is suitable to digital module with complex logic.The presented method depends on the logic function state table which establishs a direct function relationship between module's input ports and output ports.The output states could be read from memory,thus the time-consuming analysis process could be sharply reduced and further increase the analysis efficiency.On the other hand,this presented method only show the functional corresponding relationship between input and output ports,but not the realizable circuits or the concerned realizable design languages,thus this method guarantees the intellectual property of the designer and prevents the design details from stealing.The system showed in this paper refers to a 8-bit CPU which adopted the reduced instruction set.On the base of full analysis of the design processes of this CPU,all the macromodels of the modules are established according to the presented macromodel design method,and eventually assembles the macromodel system.Comparing wavetables with the behavioral models,the validity of this method is verified. Furthermore,the verification technology of SoC based on macromodel is also refered in this paper.As one of the Three Formal Verification Technologies,macromodel verification could perfectly solve the state exploding problem which always exists in VLSI,which renders it as the most used SoC verification method.In the final part of this paper,the feasibility of the 8-bit CPU is proved by the previously established macromodel system.The primary fruits of the paper:1.Macromodel's system architecture is analysed.2.The design process of 8-bit CPU is studied in details.3.On the current foundations,a new establishing method for macromodel is showed.4.The system macromodel of 8-bit CPU is assembled,the design thought is verified.
