The Application Of Shibboleth In Hubei Science And Technology Literature Share Platform

As the society and technology development, people need more and more information which a single organization can not be provided. Integrated information from different organizations is needed to build a territorial resource service platform, which is becoming a research direction of digital library. According to the the Eleventh Five-year Plan's Outline demands for the technology development of Hubei Province, during this period, the science and technology basic condition platform would be built and healthy to promote the science and technology resource building and sharing. Hubei Science and Technology Literature Share Platform are brought up in this big environment. Hubei Science and Technology Literature Share Platform (abb. Share Platform) process and integrate on existing digital literature resources of each university and research institute in Hubei Province to server the whole province science and technology literature resource share system.The Platform is built not for one certain electronic library, but to integrate the existing literature of all located library in Hubei province and build a kind of share mechanic basing on existing resources of each library to satisfy the expansion of the different platforms and organizations compatibility for keeping features of regional and distributing visit, therefore a single sgin on telnet is actualized on multiplayer structure of Share Platform. The existing remote access technology (for example: proxy server, VPN technology etc.) cannot well satisfy the need on identity certification of cross-territory and distributed remote client single sign on, so a new remote access technology to support the identity certification system for Share Platform is requested. This thesis emphasizes on how to design a cross-territory and distributed remote client simple point certification system on the Share Platform system, which is also one of the most important issue of this project.As one important part of GridShib, Shibboleth actualizes the cross-territory single sign on entry and provides a good solution to built network dummy organization. Based on this, the writer did research on Shibboleth's components and their function, relative protocols and application area, then designed the certification system frame of the Shibboleth's application on Share Platform and simulated the system building so that the cross-territory, distributed remote single sign on certification has been actualized on Share Platform.For the limitation that Shibboleth is only realized on HUST library and the whole platform is built on the basis that each participating library has built own Shibboleth platform, there are still many questions are needed to be further researched. And in the end of this thesis, the writer also discusses on the further questions...
