The Research And Development Of IGES Graphics Viewer

Every Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing(CAD/CAM) system has its own data formats.Thus the numerousness of data formats has created tremendous obstructions in the information integration,sharing and exchange of product models.The specifications,therefore,for the graphics data formats in exchange emerged.Among these specifications,The Initial Graphics Exchange Specification (IGES) is a standard one.This paper provides a deep research focusing on the display and processing of IGES neutral files used in graphics exchange,thus realized an IGES graphics viewer, which functions in the graphics display of files with IGES formats and processing on such graphics.On the basis of studying the Initial Graphics Exchange Specifications,this paper conducts the research on the realization of IGES graphics viewer in these aspects as follows:1.Study of the IGES related theories in computer graphics as well as the entire structure and mutual effects among sections of IGES files.2.Proposition of IGES data processing algorithm,as well as IGES geometry and non-geometry data analyzing and retrieving algorithms,with the realization of transformation.The file processing algorithm has created a general approach in the processing of IGES files.In this approach,the analyzing and retrieving algorithms of geometry and non-geometry data can be used to extract relevant data.3.Design of the overall frame of the IGES graphics viewer,with prime considerations for the expandability of the viewer.The overall frame comprises the construction of entity classes,the definition of transformation operation functions,the retrieval and storage of data,and the output of three-dimensional data in two-dimensional form.4.Development of an IGES graphics viewing system,using C++ as the developing tool combined with MFC and GDI for the realization of the entire system.
