Based on the simulated technology, the virtual manufacturing (VM) is used to estimate function and capability of production by digital production model, and evaluate its machining indexes included by machinability, cost and so on from the point of view of full periodic production, and this can reduce disadvantage factors brought from practicality model machining in conventional machining mode, such as long period, high cost, bad integration and so on.However, conventional CAD production models are all built separately and aimed at its analysis and simulation process, and are short of harmonization mechanism, and are badly in resue and integration. The mostly features of virtual manufacture are to analyze the production's machinability and other characteristics from its full lifecycle. And all processes of analysis and simulation are based on corresponding data model, so digital production model occupies an important position in the virtual manufacture. Thereby exploring new production model and modeling method already becomes an important task in virtual manufacture technology.Basing on studied native and foreign development status of geometry sculpture and production model, the paper lucubrates IGES data structure, brings forward the conversion method of production data model in virtual machining environment. This method sculpts the entity of complicated model by other CAD system, and saves in IGES file format, finally machines through entering virtual machining environment using production model conversion interface. That embodies currency and universality of the system.Basing on characteristic and request of virtual machining environment, the paper studies and makes the discrete data structure of model. The data structure can express exactly the gradual molding process of workpiece during the course of machining, and note corresponding machining information. So whole virtual production model system is formed.
