The study of the remote fault diagnosis and remote services is just beginning in China, which is far behind with foreign. In this paper, the Web-based remote monitoring system for air-jet looms was studied.In this paper, first of all, the basic principles of air-jet looms were analyzed briefly, and the remote monitoring system was studied with the main nozzle and the flow stress. By comparing the advantages and disadvantages between the B/S and the C/S, the system was developed in the Web-based B/S mode.Secondly, the main technologies, which included socket network communication, database, dynamic graphics display, ActiveX control and so on, were studied. The research focused on the network communication module, database operations and real-time graphical display module.On real-time communication, the system realized real-time communication by the use of socket in the B/S——the client embedded in Web page, which was compiled with VB, communicated with the Server. The system realized the Server socket communicated with SQL Server2000 database, and the Server socket sent the date from the database to the user.On dynamic graphical display, the seamless combination was realized between VB with Matlab, which made user see intuitive, easy-to-understand, non-flashing, dynamic real-time waveforms. And the relevant analysis may be made in the seamless technology.On the database, the system used SQL statements operate SQL Server2000 by the use of ASP and ADO's component through ODBC connectivity.Finally, the control as a client, which included the communications and graphics display module, was embedded in the Web page, and communicated with the Server to monitor. Once abnormal happens, the light flashes and horn immediately alarms.The system runs well after debugging. Finally some suggestions are brought up about further study of the system in future.
