Non-orthogonal Multi-modulation Technology (NMT) is a new digital modulation technology which is based on non-orthogonal multicarrier. Because the limitation of orthogonality is broken through, it is much better than the traditional carrier modulation method. Through much research and simulations which is made on the channels of ADSL, VDSL, category 5 cable of the ethernet, wireless network and satellite, NMT is proved to be better than other modulation technology. In order to validate the physical performance and practical feasibility, much work has been done on the research and realization of the NMT prototype by several graduates. The main work of this thesis is to further improve the performance of the existing prototype, It is mainly made up of transplanting NMT/FDTS algorithm to the NMT-S3B prototype and developing the modulation and demodulation modules of NMT/FDTS on FPGA.Firstly, the algorithms of NMT/FDTS and DMT is simulated in the Matlab and then transplanted into the NMT-S3B prototype. The transmission experiments of the NMT/FDTS and DMT are made on the channel of 5# twisted-pair which is 100 meters long, the results show that the software platform is designed successfully and NMT/FDTS is more superior. In order to solve the problem of long time spending which is caused by the high complexity of NMT/FDTS algorithm in the modulation and demodulation process, the SignalWAVE development board is used to design and develop the modulation and demodulation modules of NMT/FDTS which is based on FPGA. and satisfactory results have been achieved.
