In today's society with the fast development of the technology, we are looking for more reliable and effective personal identification methods. Fingerprint is the most reliable research object for its uniqueness, permanence and safety. Fingerprint recognition system is applied in wide range of application domains. The researches on fingerprint recognition are not only theoretically but also practically meaningful.This paper summarizes fingerprint recognition methods and technologies, and proposes a whole set of algorithms for fingerprint recognition. The algorithm is mainly composed of two sections, fingerprint preprocessing and fingerprint matching. In preprocessing part, we get better and smoother orientation images by improving the orientation with overlap method. We use and compare fixed threshold method and dynamic threshold method in binarization section. A new method is proposed based on classical OPTA template thinning method. This paper introduced an algorithm to deal with the problem of minutia matching in fingerprint recognition. We use and compare the vector line method and vector triangle method. In space ,the vector triangle method take into account not only the location ,direction ,type of minutiae and the distance between minutiae ,but also its` relative location. The experimental results show that the algorithm does not rely on rotation and has a strong ability to resist image noises .it also has a relatively high rate of fingerprint recognition, but has low effectiveness in recognizing damaged or blurry fingerprint images.The fingerprint recognition system based on EFI is designed and applied in this paper. With the great progress of computer science, it has been found more and more disadvantages of the legacy technology of BIOS. A new technology—EFI (Extensible Firmware Interface) was introduced by Intel Corporation to solve this problem. This paper introduces the EFI specification. We also understand that EFI drivers by the analysis of EFI driver model. We design and implement the driver of fingerprint algorithm, and apply the new technology on this project successfully. The project presents the high level in area of products based on EFI.
