This paper makes a deep research on the symbol timing synchronization algorithm in Chinese Television Terrestrial Transmission system.First of all, the development of Digital Television technology is introduced briefly followed by the summarization of the basic idea of OFDM technology and the basic characteristics of wireless channel. Then, OFDM symbol timing synchronization based on CP is analyzed in detail. After that, the symbol timing synchronization technique is investigated in depth in the DTMB demodulator. Based on its specific data structure and existed ML algorithm for traditional OFDM system, a simplified mode detection algorithm for multi-mode systems and an improved symbol timing synchronization algorithm are proposed which perform better than traditional algorithms. All the proposed algorithms are simulated with Matlab and the simulation results show that the proposed algorithms are robust under frequency selective and time selective fading channels. Finally, a complete solution for symbol timing synchronization is proposed to the demodulator of DTMB system, which is tested and verified by demodulating data acquired in field test. |
