With the rapid development of economic and human’s living standards, people’s requirements on the reliable and the efficient of wireless communication are higher than before. The goal of wireless transmission in the future is to become real-time, speedly and quality.However, lack of spectrum resources has become one of the bottlenecks of the development on wire communication. OFDM, based on its spectrum efficiency, has become to be the physical layer connect technology of several communication standards, which also been expected as the key technology of fourth generation mobile communication with an extensive application prospect.OFDM systems is very sensitive to synchronization error, synchronization performance directly affect the performance of the whole communication system,so synchronous technology is the key technology of OFDM systems.IEEE802.11a is a Wireless LAN Standard which adopts OFDM as the physical layer connect technology. The wireless local area network transmit sudden data, this requires the WLAN system can effectively achieve synchronization, which means to make higher request to OFDM synchronous technology. So based on the IEEE802.11a, the OFDM synchronization algorithms has been deeply studied in the paper.The classical synchronous algorithm based on the training sequence has been researched and also realize the simulation in this paper. From the result of this simulation, that synchronous algorithm can realize the synchronous transmit with little error, but the measurement curve of the timing synchronization has a maximum platform, vulnerable to the influence of noise. Therefore, an improved synchronous algorithm according to that classical algorithm has been proved on this thesis, the algorithm build a new training sequence,the measurement curve of the timing synchronization has peaks by using the training sequence, weakened the influence of noise.From the result of this simulation, the improved algorithm’s estimate mean square error is better than the classical synchronous algorithm.According to the principle of the improved synchronous algorithm, the ideas of hardware realization of FPGA has been given, which designs all modules of the improved synchronous algorithm detailed. Beside on the ayansis on the simulation results, the synchronous algorithm can use fewer resources to achieve the faster synchronization, fully meet a standard of IEEE802.11, can be used as a child of baseband OFDM system module, has certain practical value.
