With the development of computer application in width and depth, the size of the software and system is also increasing; many teams have advanced demands for software testing. However there are many practical difficulties, such as many testing tasks, pressing test period, strict testing cost planning and harsh quality requirements, are forcing the testing team to adopt a more reasonable way. Automated Testing is a very effective choice; reasonable implementation of the automated testing can effectively deal with these four kinds of pressure that all software testing have to face. It also provides reliable protection and validation for software quality. After studying of the theory of four automated testing frameworks, this thesis chooses one common automated testing framework OST (Open Server Tester), which has been implemented and used for long time. In order to overcome its shortcomings, we designed a new automated testing framework EOST (Extended Open Server Tester).EOST automated testing framework is made up of public environment configuration mould, framework library functions, EOST repository database, function testing script, daily record and mail processing mould, and4test execution, monitoring and managing tools. EOST separates test data from test cases and scripts, improves the maintainability and reuse of test data, and lays the foundation for improving software testing result. In addition, we will redesign the3structures of scripts; it will reduce the difficulty of test development and extend the use of EOST framework. At the same time, EOST adopts PERL script as the test scripts developing language, which is compatible with the original OST scripts.Compared with OST, EOST framework improves the testing cases and date reuse, reduces the difficulty of maintenance and development of test scripts. It lays a good foundation for extending the usage of EOST testing framework.
