Sonar buoy, which owns a lot of advantages such as small size and convenience of placement, is an indispensable tool in underwater acoustic research and engineering application. Wireless data transmission is the primary mode of communication for sonar buoy. Because of the limit of capacity of wireless data transmission, traditional data acquisition system in sonar buoy mainly adopts the method of self-storage to save data, or make a long-distance data transmission through optical cable. With the development of underwater acoustid technology, it is necessary to improve the ability of data acquisition and transmission. And the development of wireless communication technology, in particular wireless network communication, makes it possible to achieve the large capacitance data storage and high speed transfers for buoy systems.Under this background, a wireless communication platform using ARM processsors and VxWorks real time operating system is designed for sonar buoy. The design process of embedded wireless communication platform which is based on ARM-VxWorks is expatiated detailedly in this thesis, and network communication programs are empoldered on this platform. The BSP design method based on S3C2410, writing of serial drivers and network drivers are given in this thesis. Data transmission softwares of network communication are developed on this basis, and a performance simulation of the wireless communication system at different antenna heights is made. After analyzing and processing data collected from experiment in lake, the design of this platform proves to be feasible.
