This paper introduce the development and status of fin stabilizer control technology at domestic and international, emphatically expatiate the functional design and implementation scheme of fin stabilizer controller based on ARM processor.The fin stabilizer is a kind of highly automated ship stabilizer system which is controlled by Microcomputer. The fin stabilizers send control signals in time according to the man-made input signals and the feedback signals from fin stabilizer itself to make it rotate to anticipant angle automatically, and achieve aim to reduce ship-rolling. But, most of fin stabilizer controllers utilize Single Chip Machine as their main processor or are developed based on Industry Control Machine at present. The former has low integration degree and poor stability while the latter has high cost. This paper devises a new type of controller for fin stabilizer based on ARM processor. The problems mentioned above have been solved.The proposed system consists of hardware platform and software platform. The hardware platform includes controller's core circuit based on the LPC2290 of PHILIPS CO, and driving circuit for assist implementation of control. The software platform is mainly software based on ARM, which includes boot code and application program. At last, some measures are taken to guarantee the stability of system.Generally, PID controller based on anti-moment principle has been commonly adopted in ship stabilizing fin system. Because of non-linearity, complexity, time-varying of ship roll motion and uncertainty of sea condition, satisfied control effect is very difficult to be obtained with classical PID controller. Therefore, it is significant to achieve PID parameters Auto- tuning.Fuzzy control does not need to know accurate mathematic model of object. But it is based on human thinking and experiences, and it uses language rule to describe controlling process, moreover bases rule to modify the controlling arithmetic or parameter. The paper combines fuzzy control with PID control, achieves the best parameter adjustment which only use the long-term practical accumulation of experience knowledge of operator and fuzzy control rule of expert, then use the fuzzy reasoning identifying the characteristic parameter of object on-line, changing control rule in time, needn't the accurate model of object.The research results indicate that the new system adopted the new control means can fulfill the requirement of design and take on some perfect advantages, such as reasonable design, high integration density and performance-price ratio, superior performance, strong anti-jamming capability, good stability, high real-time performance and so on. In addition, the controller cans adapt to the developing trend of fin stabilizers control system's intelligence. Therefore, the fin stabilizers controller has better use-value and significance.
